It's easy to get excited about learning and mastering guitar! It's a beautiful instrument -- one I have enjoyed playing most of my life. I too started as a beginner on the journey. The I fell in love with making music on guitar so much that I'm lucky enough to do it as my profession :-) The point I want to make is maybe "spiritual" or "philosophical." But I think that it's realistic and practical. And that is to know what you want to get out of beginning acoustic guitar lessons before you even begin! Do you want it as a hobby? Do you want to play for your friends and family? Impress girls or boys? Play in a band part-time? Full-time? The possibilities are actually almost endless. Once you know what you want, commit to it. It's something like an exercise program. If you don't exercise with any kind of consistent effort or eat good food you won't make much progress. For learning the guitar this translates as practicing at least 10 to 15 minutes for 5 or 6 days a week if you just want to play a few easy songs for yourself. If you want more, you'll need to boost the practice time accordingly. Also remember to remain flexible. Things change -- and you will need to stay alert to what you are feeling. Are you being lazy?
